The members include:

•  Two architects who are registered in the state of Washington
• A state-certified general real estate appraiser
• Two historians with appropriate degrees or equivalent experience
• A professional archaeologist or anthropologist with appropriate degrees
• An experienced preservation construction specialist
• Two at-large county residents appointed by the County Commissioners
• Two at-large city residents appointed by the City Council

Purpose

The purpose of the Historic Landmarks Commission is to provide stewardship of the historic and architecturally significant properties in the City and County of Spokane.

Responsibilities/Time Commitment

The Commission has the responsibility of designating historic landmarks and districts to the Spokane Register of Historic Places and of managing those landmarks once designated. Commission responsibilities require a commitment of approximately 3-5 hours a month.

Meets monthly for an average of 3 hours per meeting.
