Online Filing
The Spokane County Elections Office will open a special filing period for several elected positions which had no candidates file during the regular filing period. Candidate Filing is August 6th - August 8th, 2025. The special three-day filing period begins on August 6th for the districts listed below only:
- Town of Fairfield – (Council Position No. 2)
- Town of Latah– (Council Position No. 5)
- Town of Waverly – (Council Position No. 2)
- Fire District No. 2 – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2 and 3)
- Fire District No. 5 – (Commissioner Position No. 1)
- Fire District No. 10 – (Commissioner Position No. 1 and 3)
- Fire District No. 12 – (Commissioner Position No. 1)
- East Spokane Water District No. 1 - (Commissioner Position No. 2)
- Whitworth Water District No. 2 - (Commissioner Position No. 3)
- Vel-View Water District No. 13 – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2 and 3)
- Hangman Hills Water District No. 15 – (Commissioner Position No. 3)
- Strathview Water District No. 16 - (Commissioner Position No. 3)
- Spangle Cemetery District No. 1 – (Commissioner Position No. 1)
- Milan Cemetery District No. 5 – (Commissioner Position No. 2)
- Waverly Cemetery District No. 6 – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2, and 3)
These vacant positions will appear on the General Election Ballot. The candidate that receives the most votes will be elected to fill the term. If the office has a filing fee, please be prepared to pay the required filing fee in full at the time of filing.
Candidates may not withdraw at any time when filing for office during a Special 3 Day Filing period.
To file for one of the listed positions, file online starting at 9:00 AM on August 6th until 4:00 PM on August 8th or fill out the Candidate Declaration Form (PDF) and submit the form via email or in-person at the Spokane County Elections Office.
Spokane County special filing closes August 8th, 2025, at 4:00 PM.

Candidate Online Voters’ Guide Statements & Photos
The Spokane County Elections will be providing an Voters’ Guide for the General Election. After your Declaration of Candidacy has been validated, you will receive a separate email notification describing how to submit your candidate statement and photograph.
