Thank you for your interest in submitting a Referral to the Spokane County DUI Therapeutic Court (DUITC).
We are currently accepting referrals for county probation cases as well as stipulated orders of continuance (SOCs) for county cases.
Though our Referrals are most frequently submitted by attorneys, anyone can make a Referral to our program, including family members and defendants themselves. Prior to sending a Referral, the prospective participant’s legal team should thoroughly explain the program requirements and expectations as detailed in the Participant Handbook. Once we receive the Referral form with the required Release of Information (ROI) form, we will begin the Referral Process.
To start, we will complete a criminal background check to determine initial eligibility for our program. We will then reach out to the prospective participant to schedule a screening and risk assessment with one of the Therapeutic Courts Case Managers. During the screening, the prospective participant can ask any questions they may have regarding their potential commitment to DUITC. The risk assessment will determine whether the individual falls into the Moderate Risk/Moderate Need or High Risk/High Need category, and therefore eligible for DUITC. After the screening and risk assessment are completed, we will contact Treatment Providers for medical records to confirm the prospective participant has a qualifying Substance Use Disorder (SUD) diagnosis from within the last six months.
Once the Referral Process has been completed, the Referral will be staffed by the entire DUITC Team, and a decision will be rendered if the prospective participant is accepted or declined into DUITC.
Should you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Therapeutic Courts Office at (509) 477-2230 or [email protected].
