Spokane County Crews Are Working to Repair a Sewer Main Break in the Country Homes Area

UPDATE 07/16/2025:

Last night, crews found the source of the leak: a 36-inch crack near the bottom of the ductile iron force main.  Today, the damaged section of pipe will be cut out and replaced with new pipe and fittings.  Meanwhile, Wall Street will remain closed near Barnes Road.  Motorists are asked to use alternate routes for the next few days while crews finish the repairs, backfill the trench, and re-gravel the road.  Normal traffic flow should be restored by Saturday morning.

07/15/2025:

Spokane County crews are working to repair a sewer main break in the Country Homes area at the same location where another sewer break was repaired a couple of months ago.

Currently, crews are working to shut down the pump station at Wall Street and Barnes Road.  While the cause of the break has not been determined, repairs will require excavating the road surface, cleaning up contaminated soil, replacing damaged parts/equipment, and then re-graveling the road.

The repair work could take several days or weeks to complete.  At this time, traffic control is in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area of Wall St. and Barnes Rd. until further notice.
